My complete name, if you must know, is Daniel Brian Reyes Abbey. No one’s ever addressed me as such and I sometimes wonder why we even need names that long. Anyway, you can call me Dan.
I’m married to a thoroughly hot chick named Chamé, whom I met over the internet eight years ago. Together we have two kids: an 8-year-old son named Chuck (who we homeschool) and a newborn baby girl named Ahnaire (who is my spitting image although my wife will severely contest that).
I’m a writer/director with various other passions that include painting, web and graphic design, music, and making fart noises then blaming it on my son.
Wordsmith
Ahh writing. My true passion.
I’ve been doing it professionally since 1997.
I’ve been privileged to work on all kinds of projects, from editing a major environmental research paper to penning Lea Salonga’s DVD “My Life On Stage: A Special Interview”. I’ve written TV spots, magazine articles, corporate videos, mobile television shows, slogans, advertisements, press releases, screenplays, business plans, creative assessments, grant proposals, a parade of online content, and even a couple of in-flight video scripts for a major international airline.
I’ve written excuse letters for truant siblings, resignation letters for burned-out employees, and application letters for people seeking new horizons.
I’ve written for a Grammy award-winning singer, a Tony award-winning Broadway star, and a Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame inductee rock band.
I’m currently writing a children’s book and hoping to write and direct feature films one day.
Nothing beats doing what you love.
Director
You’ve probably noticed from my See page that I have a few videos online, presented in a way that’s cool to look at and will hopefully get me extra work. Well, a lot of that was made for and broadcast on Globe Telecom’s 3G Mobile TV network. The other vids are my personal short films, stuff I’ve done in my spare time as I tinker with my feature film screenplays in the hopes that I’ll stumble on a truckload of cash and be able to direct my own movies one day.
If you need a director who not only has an eye for detail but can speak English, Tagalog, Ilonggo, and Karay-a (which, you might be surprised to know, can be awfully helpful when dealing with foreign and domestic business partners in the Philippines), give me a buzz and let’s talk.
Artist
The paintings I peddle as “art” actually have all been exhibited at some point and a lot of them I don’t own anymore. I’ve had exhibits in Manila and sold work to various collectors both here and abroad. My work has reached the US, England, Norway, and as far as New Zealand.
If you like what I do and are interested in commissioning work, whether it be for your own home, as a gift (my fingerprint portraits of famous icons are by far my most popular pieces), or for corporate purposes, feel free to get in touch so we can talk about your needs, vision, and prices.
Web Designer
You’ll also note that I create websites. I’m capable of designing layouts, crafting graphics, developing content, and publishing sites to the Internet. Check out John Schlitt’s Promoter’s Site as well as the personal web space of artist Gel Jamlang. I’ve also recently finished work on the website of the Rapaport Le Roux Design firm.
I’m not, however, a programmer so I shy away from ecommerce websites and anything that involves hardcore programming and advanced mathematics. If you need a big, complex, and highly interactive website, you might be better off with a proper web design firm. But if you’re looking for nothing more than a simple yet catchy small-business or personal site, I’m your man.
Cheers for dropping by. If you're interested in giving me work, don't hesitate to get in touch.
